Job summary

Elite Personnel is seeking a versatile Human Resources/Accounting Generalist in Washington, DC. The role bridges people operations and financial management, handling payroll, benefits, onboarding, and key accounting tasks.

The ideal candidate will have a 4-year background in payroll/HR and bookkeeping, strong Excel skills, and experience with QuickBooks and BambooHR. Confidentiality and adaptability in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources, or related field (or equivalent working experience).
• 4 years of proven experience handling both payroll/HR administration and bookkeeping or accounting tasks.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, formulas, etc.).
• Hands-on experience with accounting software (QuickBooks).
• Familiarity with HRIS/Payroll platforms (DP, BambooHR).
• Regulatory knowledge: GAAP basics and labor standards.
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and discretion with sensitive data.

Responsibilities

• Payroll Management: Process bi-weekly payroll, manage timecards, PTO, and wage/tax discrepancies.
• Benefits Administration: Oversee open enrollment, health plans, 401(k), and employee questions.
• Onboarding & Offboarding: Coordinate recruitment scheduling, orientations, background checks, and exit documents.
• Compliance & Records: Maintain digital files and ensure compliance with labor laws (FLSA, FMLA, OSHA).
• Culture & Communication: Serve as contact for staff inquiries and assist with team events.
• Accounts Payable/Receivable: Code invoices, route for approvals, issue payments; generate invoices and monitor aging.
• Bank reconciliations, expense reports, month-end close support, and basic financial reports.
