Job summary

The Virgin Islands Water & Power Authority is offering an Human Resources Intern position designed to provide hands-on experience across recruitment, onboarding, records, reporting, and employee engagement within a safety-focused utility environment.

The successful candidate will gain exposure to HR practices, learn to manage confidential information, and collaborate with HR professionals while supporting a range of administrative and project work.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in high school (junior or senior) or accredited college/university.
• Interest in Human Resources and employee experience.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day HR administrative activities and departmental projects.
• Support recruitment activities, including posting job opportunities, reviewing applications, coordinating interviews, and communicating with candidates.
• Assist with new-hire onboarding and preparation of onboarding materials.
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in accordance with company policies and applicable requirements.
• Assist with HR data entry, reporting, and tracking of employee information.
• Support employee engagement initiatives, company events, recognition programs, and HR communications.
• Assist with the preparation of presentations, reports, spreadsheets, and other HR-related documents.
• Conduct research on HR practices, policies, and employment-related topics as assigned.
• Support HR team members with special projects, process improvements, and organizational initiatives.
• Assist with maintaining HR resources, forms, and internal documentation.
