Job summary

Heartland Business Systems is seeking a Human Resources Intern to assist the HR team with a wide range of projects related to HR compliance, onboarding, employee benefits, and generalist tasks while learning HR processes. This internship is designed to be educational and practical.

You will support HRIS testing, onboarding coordination, file maintenance, and development programs, with a focus on professionalism, teamwork, and results orientation.

• Completed coursework in the Human Resources field.
• Minimum 3.5 GPA and High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Maintain an outcome focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Assist HRIS activity: data auditing, testing, implementation and training.
• Support projects: wellness events, benefits, engagement, compliance.
• Assist with affirmative action plan activities and process review.
• Coordinate onboarding for new hires.
• File and maintain HR paperwork to ensure compliance.
• Assist in transitioning to a paperless system (scanning and organizing files).
• Participate in intern development programs and network events.
• Shadow HR areas and complete an internship capstone project.
