Job summary

Little River Band of Ottawa Indians Tribal Government in Michigan seeks a Human Resources Generalist to support recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, benefits, compliance, training, performance management and employee engagement. The position reports to HR leadership and works across the Executive Team to ensure policies align with LRBOI goals.

The role requires an appropriate HR credential, strong MS Office 365, HRIS and recruiting software skills, plus a valid Michigan driver's license.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in HR, business or related field.
• Two years’ experience in a generalist HR role or five years in HR with broad knowledge in policy, benefits, health and safety, recruiting and employee relations.
• Technical skills in MS Office 365, HRIS and recruiting software.
• Valid Michigan Operator License with driving record that qualifies under Tribe’s auto insurance policy.
• THRP I and II certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains physical and electronic employee files and document processing.
• Coordinates compensation and benefits programs; maintains salary data and ensures compliance.
• Verifies, approves and enters data into HRIS ensuring accuracy.
• Assists with maintaining performance management system.
• Handles recruiting activities: requisitions, postings, applicants, background checks, onboarding.
• Assists in designing and training personnel policies and procedures.
• Tracks mandatory/non-mandatory training and compliance.
• Promotes positive employee relations and assists in investigations and disciplinary processes.
• Maintains confidentiality and compliance with laws and policies.
• Prepares documents/reports to support HR operations.
• Represents the department in meetings with Tribal Council or outside agencies.
• All other HR duties as assigned.
