Job summary

Alstom in Phoenix is seeking a full-time onsite Human Resources Business Partner. You will work onsite, shaping business goals, driving organizational effectiveness, and building strong teams across the value chain.

Day-to-day responsibilities include partnering with Talent Acquisition, HR Operations, and leaders to drive engagement, develop leaders, and mobilize talent for new contracts. The role requires HR expertise in union environments and compliance with labor laws.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business, Psychology, or other relevant field.
  • Experience resolving complex employee relations issues and labor relations activities, including grievance handling and communication with union representatives.
  • Knowledge of HR and People Strategies, People Management, and experience in a unionized environment.
  • Familiarity with employment laws and regulations, including FLSA, FMLA, ADAAA, and Railway Labor Act (an asset).
  • Certifications for Human Resources Professionals (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP).
  • Strong communication skills in English (spoken and written).
  • Ability to analyze organizational capabilities and identify gaps to support business strategy.
  • Skills in coaching leaders, talent reviews, and succession planning.
  • Experience in leadership development and fostering high-performance cultures.
  • Knowledge and experience in operating with an Unionized environment to ensure all HR strategies are compliant with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Responsibilities

  • Analyze current organizational capabilities to deliver the business strategy and identifying and acting on gaps versus required capabilities.
  • Support change programs, organizational effectiveness, development, and fostering a high-performance culture, including bids and project support.
  • Ensuring the right talent is in the right place at the right time by coaching leaders on talent-related tools, supporting talent reviews, and mobilizing high potentials.
  • Supporting talent reviews, competency assessments, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Acting as a lead for mobilizing a new site, collaborating with Talent Acquisition and HR Operations to effectively onboard employees to the site for a new contract/customer.
  • Administering FLSA testing and reviewing qualifications with job descriptions for all positions.
  • Partnering with Business Leaders to drive organizational effectiveness and employee engagement.
  • Supporting leadership development initiatives to help build resilient and adaptable teams.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
  • Providing expert guidance on employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Provide guidance and support to the management team regarding operating in an unionized environment to ensure compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
