Free Geek in Portland, Oregon seeks an organized HR Generalist for part-time payroll processing, benefits enrollment, and records management. You will maintain staff files, handle confidential questions, and ensure compliance with policy and HIPAA.

Qualifications

• Experience in administrative or people-supporting office roles required.
• HR, benefits admin, or payroll experience preferred.
• Annual HIPAA certification required upon hire (paid by Free Geek).
• Strong understanding of confidentiality is a must.

Responsibilities

• Payroll processing on a biweekly basis with leadership and accounting.
• Maintain staff records and training data, development plans, and disciplinary items.
• Organize a centralized filing system and manage document flow and retention (digital and physical).
• Orient and enroll staff in medical and dental benefits.
• Handle confidential issues with discretion per Free Geek policy and HIPAA.
• Ensure personnel actions are processed accurately and timely.
• Support HR administrative record-keeping and regulatory postings.
