Job summary

Hope Cooperative is seeking a Human Resources Generalist II in Sacramento, CA to manage employee benefits, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide excellent service to staff. This role supports the benefits strategy and employee well‑being across the organization.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s in HR, strong knowledge of federal and CA employment laws, 3–5 years in benefits administration, and ADP Workforce Now Payroll/HRIS experience. Non-profit experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field; SHRM-CP or PHR desirable.
• Extensive knowledge of federal and California State employment laws and practices (ACA, ADA, ERISA, COBRA, FLSA, wage and hour).
• 3–5 years’ experience administering benefits with strong HR functions focus.
• 2+ years with ADP Workforce Now payroll and ADP HRIS desirable.
• Non-profit social services experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of contact for employees on HR-related inquiries including benefits, leaves, ACA, ADA, policies, and Workers’ Comp.
• Oversee benefits enrollment, plan changes, and carrier communications.
• Maintain benefit files, HRIS data, and compliance documentation (COBRA, HIPAA, EEO).
• Coordinate annual benefits open enrollment and benefits guide updates with broker and HRIS system.
