Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking an HR Generalist to work under senior HR supervision, handling a balance of administrative tasks while supporting client groups on HR processes and employee relations issues.

Responsibilities include advising on discipline, hiring, and termination, mediating disputes, ensuring policy adherence, and assisting in labor relations and reporting. Travel up to 20% may be required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a human resources generalist role.
• Knowledge of labor relations, employee retention, and HR policies.
• Understanding of current employment standards.
• Proficiency with Google and/or Microsoft Office and HRIS systems (MyWorkday preferred).
• Ability to communicate effectively and influence change.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day HR functions and programs aligned with GFL HR protocols.
• Advise managers on legal concerns related to discipline, hiring, promoting, termination, and performance management.
• Act as mediator and facilitator in disputes between employees and managers.
• Support labor relations programs and participate in grievance meetings/arbitration.
• Prepare HR reports on demographics, turnover, and initiatives.
• Develop relationships with management to deliver HR services.
• Partner with leadership to design and implement HR programs supporting business direction.
• Interpret policies for employees and managers.
• Provide feedback on morale to HR leadership.
