Job summary

The West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) seeks an HR Generalist 1 to join District Eight HQ in Randolph County (Elkins, WV). You will manage district recruitment, coordinate training programs, and facilitate onboarding for new hires.

You will maintain accurate employee records, support drug and alcohol testing programs, and cross-train across HR functions to build broad personnel operations expertise. Strong communication and detail orientation are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Substitution: Experience in human resources, payroll, bookkeeping, or accounting may be substituted for the required training/education through an established formula.
• No experience is required for this position.
• Travel may be required; therefore a valid driver’s license is required.
• Promotional Only: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a Human Resources Specialist Associate.
