Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

Job description

The HR Generalist will manage the daily functions of the Human Resource department including recruiting for production and admin support roles, administering benefits, and ensuring strict adherence to safety and labor regulations. This role serves as the primary point of contact for all people operations, balancing administrative precision with a hands-on presence on the shop floor while fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruitment, On and Offboarding: Manage fullcycle recruiting for production skilled trades and support staff including drafting job descriptions, conducting interviews, and coordinating preemployment / quarterly drug screenings and background checks. Lead onboarding and orientation processes to ensure a smooth transition into the organization. Manage offboarding processes, including exit interviews and final documentation.
  • Safety & Compliance: Maintain OSHA 300 logs and coordinate mandatory safety trainings (e.g., lockout/tagout, PPE usage) essential for manufacturing environments. Partner with leadership to reinforce a strong safety culture.
  • Benefits: Act as the primary liaison for health insurance, open enrollment, 401k administration, and other ancillary / discretionary benefits. Serve as a liaison for worker’s compensation claims and return to work coordination.
  • Employee Relations: Act as a trusted advisor to resolve workplace conflicts, manage disciplinary actions, and conduct regular checkins to improve retention. Partner with leadership to address employee relations matters and develop, implement, and support consistent performance review processes that drive accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement. Conduct investigations and document findings objectively. Coach supervisors on consistent and compliant people management practices.
  • Policy Management: Maintain and update the employee handbook, public postings and related communications, to ensure compliance with federal and state labor laws and contract specific requirements.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate digital and physical personnel files, ensuring confidentiality and security of sensitive data.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience: 2 to 5 years of HR experience, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of employment law and safety regulations (OSHA, EEO, ADA, FLSA, Workers' Comp).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with HRIS platforms (e.g., Paychex) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to connect effectively with both executive leadership and shopfloor personnel.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

This is a part-time position (20 to 30 hours per week) to start, with the potential to grow into a full-time role as our business expands. We’re looking for someone who’s excited to grow with us and take on increasing responsibility over time.
