Job summary

Benesch Friedlander Coplan & Aronoff is seeking a Specialist, Business Development to support the Firm’s Houston office and Texas-wide initiatives. You will partner with attorneys and stakeholders to execute strategic BD activities, gather market intelligence, and drive cross-office collaboration to grow Houston-based practices.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in marketing/law/business and at least 5 years of marketing BD experience, with energy sector or corporate law firm exposure

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in marketing, law or business (required).
• At least 5 years of marketing professional experience (required).
• Experience in marketing / business development in energy / oil and gas sector and/or corporate, projects and finance practices (preferred).
• Experience in a corporate law firm setting or relevant industry setting (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Identify and support strategic business development and marketing initiatives for the Houston office partners and practices.
• Gather intelligence on local legal industry trends and insights into the competitive landscape.
• Collaborate with practice leads in other offices to drive Houston BD initiatives and cross-selling opportunities.
• Manage sponsorships and partnerships for maximum ROI.
• Write pitches, RFPs and communications to clients and prospects.
• Conduct client, prospect and market research to support targeting and messaging.
• Coordinate submissions for legal directories, awards and rankings relevant to Texas practices.
• Collaborate with events team to plan client events, seminars and webinars.
• Support profile-raising efforts including website content updates.
• Work with marketing and communications on media relations and digital marketing initiatives.
• Build knowledge of Texas practice areas to support marketing strategies.
• Track Texas-based BD opportunities and follow-up with partners.
