Job summary

VOALA is seeking a Housing Specialist to identify suitable housing for program participants and assist them in achieving sustainable, independent living. You will join the services team and engage in all stages from assessment to delivery.

Responsibilities include locating housing options, maintaining a housing database, coordinating with landlords, and facilitating move-in activities to support permanent housing placement.

Qualifications

• Must pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, references, employment and education verifications.
• Ability to perform under emotional stress and conflicts with difficult, uncooperative clients.
• Experience working with veterans, people in recovery, or homelessness is valued.

Responsibilities

• Identify and locate housing options for homeless participants and refer to VOALA shelters when appropriate.
• Create and maintain a housing database linking tenants to apartments.
• Communicate with landlords and explain VOALA programs and participant needs.
• Conduct habitability and lead-based paint inspections as needed.
• Develop support systems for clients to achieve permanent housing.
• Coordinate move-in activities, rental negotiations, and service referrals.
