Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Housing Specialist I to identify suitable housing options for participants and help families achieve stable independent living. You will work on-site with the program team, assisting with assessment, planning and referrals.

Responsibilities include building a landlord network, maintaining a housing database, coordinating move-in activities, and supporting case management to develop Individual Service Plans.

Qualifications

• Must pass fingerprint clearance and background checks.
• Current TB screening and immunization records within 5 days of hire.
• Copy of current professional license if applicable.
• Current BLS certification within 15 days of hire.
• Completion of all required trainings within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to work with vulnerable populations under stress.

Responsibilities

• Identify and locate housing options for homeless participants and coordinate with VOALA shelters.
• Maintain a housing database linking tenants to apartments and communicate with landlords.
• Conduct habitability and lead-based paint inspections as needed.
• Assist with move-in activities, rental negotiations, and service referrals.
• Collaborate with case management to develop Individual Service Plans and coordinate follow-up.
