Job summary

Abode Services in San Jose, CA, seeks a Housing Specialist to locate housing units, coordinate with landlords and service providers, and help homeless individuals and families secure and maintain housing.

You will conduct housing searches, negotiate lease terms, review documents, and arrange HQI inspections, with a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• 1 year of experience in housing, social services, or sales/customer service with knowledge of local housing markets.
• Valid California driver's license, auto insurance, and clean DMV record required.
• Flexible schedule to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide housing placement and assistance tailored to household needs and goals.
• Search for suitable units and place participants.
• Network with landlords and property managers to secure housing.
• Assist with lease approvals and Housing Assistance Payment contracts.
• Prepare and distribute subsidy payments to landlords; coordinate move-in steps and HQI inspections.
