BHRAGS is seeking a Housing/Intake Specialist in Brooklyn to support intake, housing assessments, diversion, and placement at the assessment site. You will work with clients entering shelter to identify immediate housing needs and explore alternatives to shelter when appropriate.

The role collaborates with Social Services, Housing staff, DHS, and other providers to ensure clients are assessed and connected to housing options.

Competenze

High School Diploma required.
Associate degree in Human Services, Psychology, Housing, Public Administration, or related field preferred.
Minimum two years in shelter, housing, intake, assessment, homelessness services, or related social service setting preferred.
Experience with homelessness or housing instability preferred.
Knowledge of NYC shelter, housing, and social service systems preferred.

Mansioni

Complete intake and housing-related assessments for clients entering the assessment site.
Conduct diversion conversations to explore alternatives to shelter.
Identify housing options and barriers; develop solutions with clients.
Provide information and referrals to housing resources and services.
Coordinate with Housing staff, DHS, and community providers to pursue opportunities.
Enter and maintain client information in CARES and other systems.
Explain processes to clients clearly and respectfully.
Maintain accurate records of client contacts, assessments, and referrals.
