Services for the UnderServed seeks a Housing Specialist for a Brooklyn transitional housing shelter. The role focuses on assessing residents’ housing needs, coordinating interviews and applications, and liaising with landlords and housing programs.

Responsibilities include facilitating housing options, assisting with Section 8/NYCHA applications, and ensuring timely referrals to social services. Strong trauma knowledge and independent teamwork are valued.

Qualificações

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Two years in human services field and knowledge of trauma.
• Good interpersonal skill set, able to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Solid computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft.
• Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish speaking preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Interviews clients to assess housing needs and submits applications to community resources.
• Conducts groups to discuss housing options and how to secure an apartment.
• Accompanies residents to housing interviews and to complete housing applications when necessary.
• Provides housing resources to clients and acts as a liaison between landlords and clients.
• Refers residents to get PPD and physicals within two weeks of entrance into the facility.
• Obtains an accurate history of client’s housing situation to assess needed services.
