Job summary

Hogar, Inc. seeks a Housing Specialist to help individuals and families in DHS shelters secure permanent housing through CityFHEPS and related programs.

You will work with residents, case managers, and landlords to guide the placement process, verify eligibility, and ensure program compliance. The role involves coordinating applications, supporting residents through housing searches, and maintaining up-to-date records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Assess shelter residents for CityFHEPS, SOTA, FETA and FTHA eligibility.
• Assist residents in completing applications for CityFHEPS, SOTA, FETA, and FTHA.
• Provide guidance and support during housing search, incl. scheduling viewings.
• Liaise with landlords and property managers to secure housing placements.
• Maintain accurate records of interactions and progress in housing placements.
• Collaborate with case managers to develop individualized housing plans.
• Conduct follow-up visits to ensure housing stability.
• Stay informed about changes to CityFHEPS, SOTA, FETA and FTHA programs.
• Attend trainings and meetings as required.
• Identify clients eligible for SOTA and assist with searches and applications.
• Ensure housing placements meet SOTA requirements (income verification, reviews).
