Job summary

East Bay Community Law Center (EBCLC) is seeking a part-time Work-Study Housing and Homelessness Advocacy Team Legal Assistant at our Berkeley office. The role supports the Intake Team, handles crisis line intake, and provides administrative support to the HHAT unit.

The successful candidate will demonstrate trauma-informed deescalation, strong written and verbal communication, and meticulous data entry while helping advance EBCLC's mission of racial justice and barrier-free client service.

Qualifications

• Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Experience with trauma-informed customer service and de-escalation.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and database experience (Legal Server) preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for multi-tasking and data entry.
• Ability to work independently and in a team to support intake and HHAT operations.
• Spanish language proficiency is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interview clients by phone for intake information and demographics.
• Enter intake data in case management software following HHAT procedures.
• Direct clients to appropriate external referrals as determined by the Intake Team.
• Research and circulate referral information for services beyond HHAT scope.
• Provide administrative project support and collaborate with program staff.
• Support other duties as assigned by supervisor.
