Asian Pacific Islander Legal Outreach is seeking a Staff Attorney to provide legal representation for tenants and homeowners in eviction defense and housing matters. The role emphasizes serving underserved API and BIPOC communities in the SF Bay Area, with duties that include outreach and clinic work.

The candidate should hold CA Bar admission, have 2+ years of litigation or housing advocacy, and demonstrate a commitment to social justice while thriving in a multicultural, collaborative

Qualifications

• Active membership in the California Bar in good standing; provisional bar candidates considered.
• Minimum of two years of litigation and/or housing advocacy in low-income communities.
• Demonstrated commitment to social justice and communities of color.
• Ability to work independently in a multicultural, team-oriented environment.
• Strong advocacy and courtroom skills representing LEP clients.
• Residence within 75 miles of API Legal Outreach office.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal representation to low-income tenants and homeowners in eviction defense and related areas.
• Conduct community education and outreach.
• Staff clinics at sites accessible to consumers.
• Provide technical assistance and training to community and public agencies.
• Represent the organization at community, legal, funding, and other meetings.
