Overview

The Housekeeping Manager oversees the Housekeeping Department to ensure attentive, friendly, efficient, and courteous service, providing guests with a clean, safe, and quality environment, while managing expenses and service levels effectively.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure staff are attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to guests, managers, and colleagues.
  • Respond promptly to guest requests, complaints, and issues, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline housekeeping staff per Highgate SOPs.
  • Maintain training standards and conduct regular inspections of rooms and public areas.
  • Manage housekeeping supplies, equipment, and inventory efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, risk management, and hotel policies.
  • Coordinate large guestroom turns and VIP room preparations.
  • Participate in hiring, training, and scheduling staff.
  • Oversee maintenance requests, work orders, and safety procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality, security, and guest privacy standards.
  • Monitor and manage departmental operations, including cleanliness, guest requests, and VIP services.
  • Conduct team meetings and training sessions regularly.
  • Ensure proper documentation, record-keeping, and reporting for operations and payroll.
  • Maintain professional communication and adhere to hotel standards and policies.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in hotel operations or related field; or a 4-year college degree; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Proficiency in Windows, spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Ability to work long hours as needed.
  • Physical ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain high standards of service and appearance.
  • Participation in hotel meetings, trainings, and M.O.D. coverage as required.
