Job summary

McKibbon Hospitality is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Engineer to ensure the proper operation of our hotel facilities. You’ll support plumbing, electrical, HVAC, pool maintenance, painting, caulking and related trades to maintain a safe, clean property for guests and staff.

You will report to the General Manager and Chief Engineer, perform tasks with minimal supervision, and promote a collaborative, guest-focused maintenance culture in our Tampa-area property.

Qualifications

• 3 years’ minimum experience in a maintenance-type position, preferably in a hotel or apartment environment.
• Ability to communicate operational activities, priorities, and problems with management engineers and supervisors.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance methods and techniques for maintaining equipment.
• Knowledge of how to test pool and spa chemicals; ability to handle fire equipment (hand-held extinguishers, fire hoses, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Work independently and monitor the operations and functions of the interior and exterior areas of the property.
• Follow safety protocols when using tools and equipment and keep them organized and stored properly.
• Train others in engineering skills and construction trades as needed.
• Be the point of contact for maintenance concerns in the absence of the Chief Maintenance Engineer.
• Interact with employees and guests with clear, effective communication.
• Promote a collaborative, proactive environment within the hotel.
