Job summary

HEI Hotels & Resorts is hiring a kitchen team member at The Hotel at Avalon. You will prepare food to consistent standards, support kitchen operations, and help maintain quality during service shifts in a resort environment.

The role requires physical stamina for lifting and standing, with a focus on sanitation, accuracy, and timely execution of tasks across food preparation and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Hotel or hospitality experience preferred.
• Finger/hand dexterity to operate kitchen equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs on a continuous schedule.
• Effective verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per check from servers.
• Start food items prepared ahead of time, avoiding over-preparation of estimated needs.
• Date and rotate all food containers; keep perishables at proper temperatures.
• Check pars for shift use, determine prep needs, freezer pull and line setup; note shortages.
• Return unused items to storage, covering and dating perishables.
• Assist in correcting food cost problems and reducing waste per HEI standards.
• Operate and clean fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, processor, mixer, slicer, oven, and grill.
• Attend regularly and be available to work as scheduled.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
