Job summary

HEI Hotels & Resorts is seeking an Engineering professional to maintain building systems, ensure safety, and optimize energy usage at a Cleveland-area property. The role covers oversight of the engineering department, preventative maintenance, budgeting, and staff leadership.

The position requires hands-on experience across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry, with hotel operations knowledge and strong communication skills. Weekend/shift flexibility is expected as part of hotel operations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience at a comparable location.
• HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Carpentry experience.
• Hotel experience preferred.
• Knowledge of hotel operations, security, and budgeting.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assume control of the Engineering Department when the Chief Engineer is not available.
• Understand all building related systems including Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Life Safety.
• Follow preventative maintenance procedures for guestrooms, public spaces, grounds, and building envelope.
• Maintain engineering records and filing for budgeting, PM programs, and projects.
• Supervise and train engineering staff to maximize productivity.
• Monitor engineering spaces for safety, cleanliness, and energy efficiency.
• Daily tours to identify items needing engineering or other actions.
• Lead in Life Safety training and brand procedure adherence.
• Understand brand-related issues and problem-tracking procedures.
• Basic accounting understanding and PC proficiency.
• Maintain attendance and regular work availability.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
