Job summary

HEI Hotels and Resorts is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to supervise preventive maintenance, life safety systems, and capital projects across the property. You will oversee mechanical/electrical systems, plant upkeep, and ensure compliance with brand standards.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in a similar hotel setting, strong knowledge of building systems, and proven leadership and budgeting capabilities. This is a full-time on-site role offering a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry trade certifications or hands-on experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience at a comparable hotel location.
• Hotel operations knowledge and safety compliance.
• Strong leadership and budgeting understanding.
• Proficient in MS Office and basic accounting concepts.

Responsibilities

• Understand and oversee all building systems: electrical, HVAC, plumbing, life safety, IT.
• Oversee maintenance of equipment and facilities (FF&E, grounds, pool) per brand standards.
• Lead and develop engineering staff; ensure productivity and budget compliance.
• Maintain records for Rand&M Budget, PM Programs, and inspections.
• Monitor life safety systems and coordinate capital projects.
• Perform daily tours to identify maintenance needs.
