Job summary

Plazahotelelpaso is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead maintenance and ensure guest comfort and sustainability standards across the hotel. The role focuses on supervising staff, managing vendor bids and contracts, and directing projects to maintain facilities and life safety systems.

You will oversee preventive maintenance, troubleshoot equipment, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes while supporting guest satisfaction and sustainability goals.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or trade school background preferred.
• Prior supervisory engineer/maintenance experience required.
• HVAC certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead interview, selection, training, scheduling, and coaching of maintenance staff.
• Oversee bids, quotes, and contracts for third-party vendors.
• Manage small projects and Property Improvement Plans (PIPs).
• Perform diverse repairs including sheetrock, painting, furniture refinishing.
• Troubleshoot kitchen equipment and repair HVAC/pumps; install TVs.
• Maintain PM records and ensure life safety systems are 100% operational.
• Coordinate service contracts to meet codes and regulations.
• Maintain exterior and curb appeal per EarthView sustainability guidelines.
• Promote safe work practices to improve guest satisfaction scores.
