Job summary

Highgate Hotels in Denver, CO seeks an Engineer to manage day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department. In the absence of leadership, you will assume administrative, financial and operating responsibilities for the hotel’s engineering function.

You will lead maintenance plans, ensure safety compliance, oversee life-safety systems, supervise engineering staff, participate in energy conservation, and support budgeting and forecasting while coordinating with other hotel teams.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; hotel experience preferred.
• At least three years progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
• Trade school and/or college coursework in related field preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact with staff and guests.
• Ability to lift and move objects; flexible with long hours.
• Must maintain a warm, friendly demeanor and service orientation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing plans to maintain property, equipment, grounds and other assets, in a safe state of repair.
• Ensure the hotel complies with local, state and federal laws.
• Inspect, test and certify emergency and life safety equipment per standards.
• Supervise engineers and train staff in customer service, SOPs and loss prevention.
• Participate in energy conservation programs per Highgate standards.
• Review guest and meeting planner feedback and address issues promptly.
• Assist with vendor contracts and budget administration for engineering.
• Develop and control wage/salary, other expenses and energy budgets.
• Contribute to financial forecasts and monthly profit/loss reviews.
• Assist with special projects and renovations; schedule preventive maintenance tasks.
