Job summary

Highgate Hotels seeks a capable engineer to manage day-to-day engineering operations of the hotel. The role involves acting in the director’s absence, overseeing property maintenance, and ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.

The engineer will supervise staff, participate in energy conservation, review guest feedback, and assist with contracts, budgets, and maintenance planning, while maintaining professional appearance and guest service standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent or experience in a hotel or related field.
• Three years progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
• Trade school/college coursework in related field preferred.
• Previous supervisory skills required.
• Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing with all employees and guests.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing plans to maintain property, equipment, and assets in safe repair.
• Ensure hotel compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
• Inspect and certify emergency and life safety equipment.
• Supervise engineers and train staff in service standards and SOPs.
• Participate in energy conservation programs per standards.
• Address guest and meeting planner feedback promptly.
• Assist with vendor contracts and budget administration.
• Schedule preventive maintenance tasks.
