Job summary

Highgate seeks an Engineering professional for daily operations of the Engineering Department at our Bay Harbor Islands hotel. In the absence of the Director, the engineer will assume administrative, financial and operating responsibilities to keep the department running smoothly.

Responsibilities include planning maintenance, ensuring compliance with laws, supervising staff, energy conservation, budgeting and assisting with vendor contracts and project work.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• At least three years progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
• Trade school/college coursework in related field preferred.
• Previous supervisory skills required.
• Must be able to lift heavy objects and work long hours.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing plans to maintain property, equipment, and assets.
• Ensure hotel compliance with local, state and federal laws.
• Inspect, test, and certify emergency and life safety systems.
• Supervise engineers and train staff in SOPs and loss prevention.
• Participate in energy conservation programs and budgeting.
• Assist with vendor contracts and financial forecasts.
• Plan preventive maintenance tasks and renovations.
