Job summary

The Melrose Georgetown Hotel in Washington, DC is seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee all hotel engineering operations and ensure systems run reliably and safely.

You will lead a maintenance team, manage preventive maintenance for rooms and public areas, read blueprints, coordinate with management, and uphold OSHA safety standards to deliver an exceptional guest experience.

Flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays is required; compensation is listed at $85,000 per year.

Qualifications

• Previous hotel engineering experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building construction.
• Vocational training, associate's degree, certification or apprenticeship; state licensure where required.
• Read and interpret drawings, diagrams and blueprints; understand test equipment.
• Strong business communication, verbal and written.
• Flexible to work nights, weekends and holidays.
• Team player who delivers great guest experiences.

Responsibilities

• Ensure hotel operations meet engineering standards.
• Conduct walk-throughs and assess maintenance of systems and equipment.
• Manage preventive maintenance program for rooms and public areas.
• Collaborate with hotel management and General Manager.
• Hire, train, supervise, coach and counsel staff.
• Maintain grounds for great arrivals.
• Implement safety and emergency policies per OSHA HazCom.
