Job summary

The Melrose Georgetown Hotel in Washington, DC is seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee all aspects of engineering operations, ensuring the property remains in peak condition and compliant with safety standards.

You will lead maintenance for rooms and public areas, supervise engineering staff, manage preventive maintenance programs, and coordinate with the General Manager and hotel leadership to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

Qualifications

• Previous hotel engineering experience required, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.
• Vocational training or degree and/or apprenticeship in relevant areas; applicable licensure.
• Ability to read drawings, diagrams, and blueprints; read test equipment and measuring devices.
• Strong business communication skills, verbal and written.
• Flexible to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Team player who contributes to guest experiences.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the hotel is in great working order and meets engineering standards.
• Conduct walk-throughs and assess maintenance of hotel structure, systems, and equipment.
• Manage preventive maintenance program for rooms and public areas and maintain records.
• Collaborate with hotel management team and General Manager.
• Hire, train, supervise, coach and counsel engineering staff.
• Ensure grounds are maintained for a great arrival experience.
• Implement safety and emergency policies and procedures, including OSHA HazCom compliance.
