Job summary

The Melrose Georgetown Hotel in Washington, DC is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead our Engineering Department and uphold operational standards across all systems. You will oversee preventive maintenance for rooms and public areas, train and supervise staff, and partner with hotel management to ensure a premier guest experience.

Candidates should have extensive hotel engineering experience, relevant certifications, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Previous hotel engineering experience required, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, commercial kitchen and general building construction.
• State certification or licensure where required.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, diagrams and blueprints; read and understand test equipment.
• Strong business communication skills, verbal and written.
• Flexible to work varying schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Team player who helps provide great experiences for our guests.

Responsibilities

• Maintain hotel operations by ensuring engineering standards are met.
• Conduct walk-throughs and assess maintenance of building systems and equipment.
• Manage preventive maintenance for rooms and public areas with up-to-date records.
• Collaborate with hotel management and General Manager.
• Hire, train, supervise, coach and counsel engineering staff.
• Keep grounds maintained to ensure great guest arrivals.
• Implement safety and emergency policies, including OSHA HazCom guidelines.
