Job summary

The Melrose Georgetown Hotel in Washington, DC seeks a Chief Engineer to keep the property in excellent operating order, lead the engineering team and ensure compliance with safety and maintenance standards across all systems.

You will oversee preventive maintenance for HVAC, electrical, plumbing and building infrastructure, read drawings, train staff, coordinate with hotel leadership, and support a guest‑centric, safe environment with flexible schedules.

Qualifications

• Strong business communication skills, verbal and written.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings/diagrams and blueprints.
• Leadership experience overseeing maintenance teams in a hotel or similar setting.
• Vocational training or certification in a relevant engineering field.

Responsibilities

• Maintain hotel infrastructure to meet operational standards for the Engineering Department.
• Conduct walk-throughs and assess maintenance and operation of building systems and equipment.
• Oversee Preventive Maintenance for Rooms and Public Areas and keep records updated.
• Collaborate with hotel management and General Manager.
• Hire, train, supervise, coach and counsel engineering staff including managers.
• Ensure grounds are maintained to provide a great guest arrival experience.
• Implement safety policies and emergency procedures per OSHA HazCom and related standards.
• Salary: $85,000.00.
