Job summary

Loews Miami Beach Hotel is seeking a professional cook to join its upscale kitchen team on site in South Beach. You will set up workstations, prepare and store high-quality ingredients, and follow standardized recipes to deliver timely, plated dishes that meet the hotel's exacting standards.

The role emphasizes strict food safety, proper portion control, and collaboration with a busy culinary team to ensure guest satisfaction across six restaurants and lounges.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Post secondary culinary training or certification as a Cook.
• Thorough knowledge of Food Service Sanitation Standards.
• Thorough knowledge of standard kitchen equipment and its use.
• Ability to stand, stoop, bend; lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and organizes work area with all necessary supplies and equipment.
• Receives, inspects, rotates all food products to ensure fresh, high quality ingredients are used.
• Prepares and stores raw food products properly.
• Follows standardized recipes in the preparation and cooking of menu items.
• Adheres to portion control guidelines and minimizes waste.
• Plates cold foods according to plating guidelines.
• Monitors finished product to ensure timely service.
• Ensures quality and timely food preparation and serving.
• Follows governmental food sanitation standards at all times.
• Notifies supervisor of equipment malfunctions or safety hazards.
