Job summary

Ascent Hospitality is seeking a Cook for a new opening at our hotel in Birmingham, AL. The Cook will prepare appetizing foods for guests, uphold safety and quality standards, and support banquet and restaurant service.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, 1+ year culinary experience, strong customer service and communication skills, and be willing to obtain Food Handler and ServSafe certificates within 30 days.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• One year or more culinary experience in a hotel or restaurant preferred.
• Must have excellent customer service skills.
• Must obtain food Handler’s Certificate within 30 days of hire.
• Must obtain ServSafe certification within 30 days.
• Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Provide fast, friendly, professional service to hotel and restaurant guests and staff.
• Prepare food in accordance with health standards, cost controls and forecast.
• Ensure recipes are prepared per standard while maintaining portion control and minimizing waste.
• Oversee and enforce food specifications, portion control, recipes and sanitation.
• Adhere to brand standards regarding Food and Beverage service.
