Job summary

Ascent Hospitality is seeking a Cook to join our team at The Elyton in Birmingham. The Cook is responsible for preparing appetizing foods for guests while meeting hotel, restaurant and banquet standards.

You'll work with a dedicated team, follow safety and portion control guidelines, and maintain kitchen cleanliness. English proficiency and a professional appearance are required; ServSafe and Food Handler certifications must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Must understand, read, write and speak English.
• Must obtain food handler’s certificate within 30 days of hire.
• Must obtain ServSafe certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide fast, friendly professional service to guests and staff.
• Prepare food in accordance with recipes, productivity targets, health and safety standards, and cost controls.
• Ensure portion control, proper recipes, and minimize waste.
• Oversee and enforce food specifications, sanitation, and safety.
• Adhere to brand standards for food and beverage service.
• Maintain cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen space and equipment.
• Set up and organize catering functions according to plan.
• Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.
• Maintain knowledge of all menu items and composition.
• Assist with restocking of supplies as needed.
