Job summary

SpringHill Suites Raleigh-Durham Airport/RTP is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead facilities maintenance, grounds, and engineering personnel at the Durham hotel. The role requires flexibility for varied hours, with weekday and weekend availability.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in engineering/building/property management and HVAC experience in hospitality, plus strong leadership and budgeting skills. On-site work with safety and security oversight is essential.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of engineering/building/property management or supervisory experience.
• Two years of HVAC systems experience in hospitality/building management is preferred.
• Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, refrigeration and life safety operating systems; OSHA regulations.
• Certifications such as Certified Pool Operator (if applicable), CFC and HVAC license are preferred.
• Strong leadership, organization and communication skills; ability to delegate, multi-task and meet deadlines.
• Budgeting and cost-controls experience required.
• Ability to identify and solve problems to anticipate hotel/guest needs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee grounds, engineering and maintenance operations to meet company standards.
• Inspect facilities and ensure furniture, fixtures and equipment are in proper working condition.
• Assign and supervise repair work orders, ensuring timely completion and budget adherence.
• Inspect facilities to determine work required and prioritize projects.
• Maintain a cost-effective preventive maintenance program.
• Maintain accurate files for inspections, licenses and contracts.
• Manage security procedures and proper key control.
• Supervise day-to-day operations of the Engineering department.
