Job summary

Ascent Hospitality is seeking an energetic, creative Area Catering & Sales Manager for the Birmingham, AL hotel market. You will develop catering and sales strategies across Birmingham hotels, building relationships with local businesses, planners, and organizations to drive revenue.

The role combines catering, event sales, group sales, and business development, with opportunities to grow accounts and win new business. Excellent networking and client-experience focus are essential.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute catering and sales strategies to grow revenue across the Birmingham market.
• Generate new business for catering, weddings, social events, meetings, groups, and corporate accounts.
• Build strong relationships with businesses, event planners, wedding professionals, organizations, and community partners.
• Conduct sales calls, client meetings, property tours, networking events, and community outreach.
• Respond to catering and event inquiries, conduct follow-up, and convert leads into booked business.
• Coordinate with hotel teams to ensure successful execution of events and an exceptional client experience.
• Promote hotel meeting spaces, catering options, group accommodations, packages, and special offers.
• Develop and maintain an active sales pipeline and follow up on opportunities.
• Identify new local market opportunities and stay informed on competitor activity and trends.
• Track sales activity, bookings, revenue, and account production.

What We Are Looking For

• Previous hotel sales, catering, event sales, hospitality, or business development experience preferred.
• Proven ability to build relationships and generate new business.
• Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Energetic, creative, organized, and highly motivated.
• Strong follow-up skills with a passion for delivering exceptional client experiences.
• Ability to manage multiple accounts, events, and priorities.
• Knowledge of the Birmingham market and local event community is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and sales/CRM systems preferred.
• Flexible schedule with the ability to attend occasional evening or weekend events as needed.
