Job summary

SMGHA Nevada, LLC is seeking a Food & Beverage Host/Cashier to assist in providing outstanding service to guests. This role emphasizes greeting guests, handling monetary transactions, and coordinating with food service staff.

The ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills, a high school diploma, and at least two years of experience in a related role. This position may require working varied shifts, including nights and weekends.

Job description

Reporting to the Restaurant Manager and Assistant Manager, the Food & Beverage Host/Cashier is responsible for greeting guests in a courteous, timely, and professional manner, ensuring the outlet is clean, organized, and properly stocked at all times, and tendering all monetary transactions.

Core Job Responsibilities
  • Assist Food Servers, Bus Persons, and Food Service Runners with guest contact and table information.
  • Seat guests at tables using established rotation criteria.
  • Convey special orders, cake orders, and special requests to management.
  • Maintain knowledge of scheduled daily activities, in‑house groups, house count, table/seat/station numbers, proper table set‑ups, room capacity, hours of operation, price range and dress code.
  • Greet guests promptly as they enter the restaurant.
  • Answer the telephone and facilitate guest requests.
  • Ensure menus are updated with current inserts and replace any in poor condition.
  • Communicate guests’ needs to kitchen and management, inform management of guest reactions and comments, and assist management as needed to ensure smooth operation and quality service.
  • Check back with guests who are waiting to be seated, emphasizing that their tables are being prepared.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Shut down podium and forward phones to voice‑loop at end of shift.
  • Operate POS system.
  • Handle money and credit transactions.
  • Notify manager on duty of any guest concerns.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as requested.
Qualifications
  • High volume restaurant management or supervisory experience required.
  • Basic knowledge of computer software including Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and office equipment (telephone, copier, fax machine).
  • Effective listening abilities with strong judgment skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of related experience.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Alcohol Awareness Card.
  • Health Card.
  • Minimum age requirement of 21.
  • Experience working in a similar resort setting preferred.
Physical Demands
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of Food & Beverage Cashier or equivalent experience in a cash handling position.
  • Experience in a high volume food outlet.
  • Experience with touch screens.
  • Experience working in a similar resort setting.
  • Tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination, and air quality; may be exposed to smoke.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Prolonged sitting or standing and mobility required.
  • Balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions.
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects and/or moving up to 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Eye/hand coordination.
  • Use of standard office equipment.
  • May be required to work evening, weekends, and holiday shifts.

Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational/experience requirements indicated above.
