Job summary

Palms Casino Resort is seeking an experienced Bartender to craft cocktails and beverages for guests in a lively hotel and casino environment.

The role requires knowledge of beverage preparation, wine and champagne by the glass, and excellent guest service. You will ensure bar cleanliness, manage cash handling, and train junior staff while working flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Ability to secure and maintain a Nevada Gaming Registration.
  • Must obtain a TAM card.
  • Must obtain a Health Card.
  • Must have a Bartender 165 Union Pour Card.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a bar or similar environment.
  • Experience working in a similar resort setting.
  • Knowledgeable of menu items, including mixture and serving beverages, standard beverage recipes, preparation methods, glassware, garnishes, products, menu items, supplies and equipment.
  • Knowledgeable of wine and champagne characteristics by the glass, major wines, designated glassware, terminology, and garnishes.
  • Able to take initiative and exhibit flexibility.
  • Highly motivated and energetic personality.
  • Knowledge of hotel services, features, local attractions and activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  • Excellent customer service skills as well as interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
  • Work varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Make and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, proportioning ingredients according to standardized recipes and provide food service as needed
  • Clean equipment, tools, and supplies and ensure equipment is in good working order; including, cleanliness, sanitation and appearance of the bar
  • Knowledgeable of menu items, liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections available
  • Ring poured or served beverages, collect payment, and follow all cash handling and variance procedures, including preparing daily reports and submitting appropriate paperwork
  • Provide Apprentice Bartender and Bar Porter with training and mentoring on overall function of the bar, guest service and bartending
  • Maintain bar inventory according to set pars and internal controls, and request product to maintain stock in bar
  • Resolve guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise refer the matter to management, notify supervisor and/or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, or alleged theft
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested

Physical Demands

Work is performed in a hotel/resort setting. Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination, and air quality. May be exposed to smoke The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Constant contact with executives, department management, employees, and guests. Prolonged sitting or standing and mobility. Balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions Lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 75 pounds occasionally Eye/hand coordination. Use of standard office equipment. Ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols May be required to work evening, weekends, and holiday shifts.
