Job summary

Job description

Reporting to the Buffet Manager, the Restaurant Assistant Buffet Manager will be responsible for the daily operations of the restaurant. This position must also exhibit a high level of professional and personalized guest service that embodies the company’s brand standard.

Responsibilities
  • Set the stage for guest experience with a welcoming smile and service.
  • Create daily floor plans per shift to ensure proper rotation and coverage of stations.
  • Supervise floor service in the dining room during hours of operation.
  • Supervise cashiers to ensure correct policies and procedures for check handling and closing are maintained by service staff.
  • Manage activities related to means of access and egress to ensure compliance with Health Department and Fire Marshall regulations.
  • Review daily schedules and manage time off and vacation requests, coach and train on policies, procedures, and performance.
  • Communicate directly with guests for special requests and large party reservations.
  • Perform employee evaluations and manage attendance-related issues.
  • Maintain communication with the Chef on all food service and menu issues.
  • Coordinate with management, chefs and culinary staff to fulfill and address issues or needs requested by guests and employees.
  • Order supplies through the IP System and Purchasing; prepare purchase requisitions for any outlets from the warehouse or support departments.
  • Keep inventory file and stocking area updated.
  • Exercise cost controls for all aspects of restaurant operation.
  • Inspect food from support departments to assure freshness and quality.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested.
Qualifications
  • High-volume restaurant management or supervisory experience required.
  • Basic knowledge of computer software, including Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as office equipment (telephone, copier, fax machine).
  • Effective listening abilities and strong judgment skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of related experience.
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must obtain and maintain an Alcohol Awareness/TAM Card.
  • Must obtain and maintain an SNHD Health Card.
  • Minimum age requirement is 21.
  • Experience in a similar resort setting is preferred.
Physical Demands

Work is performed in a hotel/resort setting. Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination, and air quality. May be exposed to smoke. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Constant contact with executives, department management, employees, and guests. Prolonged sitting or standing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 75 pounds occasionally. Eye/hand coordination. Use of standard office equipment. Ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols. May be required to work evening, weekends, and holiday shifts.
