Job summary

The Shack Breakfast and Lunch is seeking a friendly host/hostess to welcome guests at the door and seat them promptly. You will present menus, quote wait times, and ensure a positive dining experience from arrival to departure.

Responsibilities include maintaining the floor plan, keeping areas clean, answering questions about the menu, and assisting guests throughout their visit at this on-site role in Overland Park.

• Keeps floor plan board updated.
• Observes tables and tracks clean, dirty and occupied tables.
• Quotes wait times to guests when tables aren’t immediately available.
• Cleans, organizes and stocks menus at host area.
• Answers phone and answers menu/restaurant questions.
• Interacts with guests on arrival and departure to ensure a positive dining experience.
• Maintains restrooms throughout shift.
• Sweeps foyer and front entrance area frequently.

Summary/Objective

You are the first person the guest sees. We are looking for an energetic and personable individual to fill this position. This individual is responsible for greeting guests at the door. The host/hostess seats and presents clean menus to guests in a friendly, professional and quick manner. The individual is also responsible for quoting wait times and ensure that they are comfortable waiting for their dining experience.

Essential Functions

• Greets guests with a smile and presents menus to guests as they are seated.
• Treats all guests in a manner to ensure their complete satisfaction. Always strives to exceed guests' expectations.
• Takes names on a waiting list.
• Runs the floor plan board.
• Observes tables and keeps track of clean, dirty and occupied tables.
• Takes guest information and quotes wait times to guests accurately when tables are not immediately available.
• Cleans, organizes and stocks menus at host area.
• Answers phone and answers questions concerning the menu and restaurant.
• Interacts with guests as they arrive and as they leave the restaurant to ensure positive dining experience.
• Maintains restrooms throughout shift.
• Sweeps foyer and front entrance area frequently.
