Job summary

Mercy Health in Cincinnati is seeking a Telecommunications Operator to expedite calls and coordinate communications across the hospital, including emergency announcements, with on-call teams and documentation as per the Emergency Preparedness Manual.

The PRN position supports paging, alarms, language-line requests, and entry of call details in accordance with site policies within Administration - Jewish.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Experience preferred but not required.
• Prior telecommunications, medical terminology, hospital or medical office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Functions as a full-time operator; respond, prioritize and navigate all calls promptly.
• Coordinate language interpretation requests and document calls per site protocol.
• Monitor paging system, two-way radios, alarms and emergency notifications; respond accordingly.
• Organize hospital directory, track pager assignments and assist with department communications.
• Notify appropriate personnel of call outcomes and coordinate on-call team communications.
• Monitor security and weather alerts; document alert type and response details.
• Connect callers with language line personnel and dispatch calls during non-staffed hours.
