Job summary

UF Health is seeking a PBX Operator to provide outstanding service by routing incoming and outgoing calls, aiding visitors and patients, and connecting communications via telephone, pagers, or computer systems.

You will manage on-call schedules, locate physicians, document incidents, and support beeper services; a high school diploma and 0–1 year telecommunications or medical customer service experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 0–1 year experience in telecommunications, switchboard, or medical customer service preferred.
• Good typing speed (30–40 wpm) and strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Answer and process calls quickly and professionally; clarify requests and dial numbers accurately.
• Locate physicians and on-call staff as requested; log all requests and updates.
• Maintain daily on-call schedules and share changes with coworkers promptly.
• Assist with Beeper services and document pending beeper needs.
• Arrange repairs or replacements of telephone equipment; follow up with on-call staff.
• Document incidents or unusual occurrences during shifts.
