Job summary

Montefiore Medical Center seeks a Telecommunications Operator to manage the switchboard, paging, and related clerical duties for the medical center. The role involves handling internal and external calls, updating directories, and ensuring secure handling of confidential information.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED and at least three years of telecom experience, with proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and Windows. Weekend and holiday work is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least three years of Telecommunications preferred.
• Proficient with Outlook, Word, Excel and Windows.
• Experience with fax, copier, scanner and basic office equipment.
• Must pass OHS Fit Test and Annual Assessment.

Responsibilities

• Responds to directory assistance and transfers calls as needed.
• Provides callers with directory and hospital information on telecom usage.
• Update telephone directory to maintain accuracy.
• Operates and maintains communication equipment; uses system logs.
• Responds promptly to emergency lines and alarms.
• Distributes batteries and maintains supply levels.
• Maintains confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Communicates clearly with supervisors and staff between shifts.
• Attends mandated education and meetings; submits reports.
• Reads emails daily and responds in a timely manner.
• Logs co-worker call outs and coordinates coverage.
• Maintains a log of all pages.
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
