Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a Protective Services Officer to provide internal and external safety support for hospital facilities. The role involves patrolling, responding to calls, and enforcing safety policies to protect patients, visitors and staff.

Responsibilities include escorts, incident documentation, emergency procedures, and coordination with clinical teams and law enforcement. Requires a high school diploma and a valid driver’s license; BLS within 6 months and TASER-related

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• BLS Basic Life Support required within 6 months of hire.
• RSFH licensure requirements (armed – TASER) within 6 months and TASER training within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients, visitors and employees; patrol grounds and respond to safety hazards.
• Deter criminal activity through routine patrols across hospital properties including parking areas.
• Enforce policies (parking, visitation, drug enforcement, tobacco-free policy).
• Monitor CCTV and respond to escalating situations requiring protective services.
• Intervene in confrontations; document duties via logs and incident reports.
• Understand emergency procedures and disaster plans; respond to alarms and emergencies.
