Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Protective Services Officer to ensure the safety of patients, visitors and staff at the Marshall Nemer Pavilion. The role involves escorts, patrols, incident reporting and enforcing hospital policies.

A valid driver’s license and BLS certification are required, with TASER training within defined timelines. Qualified candidates typically have 1–2 years in security or related fields, with a preference for vocational/technical education.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Vocational/Technical Degree preferred
• 1-2 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred
• Valid driver’s license required
• BLS Basic Life Support required within 6 months of hire
• RSFH Specific: SLED licensure requirements (armed - TASER) within 6 months and TASER Training within 60 days

Responsibilities

• Protect patients, visitors and employees by providing escorts, patrolling grounds and mitigating safety hazards.
• Deters criminal activity through routine patrols of hospital property including parking lots and decks.
• Enforces policies such as parking regulations, visitation policies, drug enforcement, and tobacco free policy.
• Monitors security cameras to detect escalations requiring protective services involvement.
• Intervenes in student, visitor and staff confrontations as appropriate.
• Documents all duties and completes daily activity logs and incident reports.
