Job summary

Mercy Health in Kentucky is seeking a Protective Services Officer (unarmed) to ensure the safety of patients, visitors and staff at the Marshall Nemer Pavilion. The role requires patrolling, escorting and enforcing hospital policies.

The position emphasizes vigilance, timely response to incidents and accurate documentation, with 1–2 years of security or related experience preferred and licensure and BLS certification within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (required)
• Vocational/Technical Degree (preferred)
• Valid driver's license (required)
• BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (required within 6 months of hire)
• RSFH Specific licensure requirements (armed - TASER) within 6 months of hire and TASER Training within 60 days

Responsibilities

• Protects patients, visitors and employees by escorts, patrolling grounds and mitigating safety hazards.
• Deters criminal activity through routine patrols of hospital property including parking lots and decks.
• Enforces policies e.g. parking regulations, visitation policies, drug enforcement, and tobacco free/smoking policy.
• Monitors hospital activity on closed circuit television to detect escalating situations requiring response.
• Intervenes in patient, visitor and staff confrontations as appropriate.
• Documents all duties performed including daily activity logs and incident reports.
