Job summary

Tufts Medical Center, Inc. seeks a Pharmacy Operations Specialist for the Specialty Pharmacy Medication Access Team. The role involves leading pharmacy operations, supervising staff, and coordinating policies to optimize medication use within a hospital setting.

The position requires a PharmD or Bachelor’s in Pharmacy with a valid Pharmacist license and at least three years of related experience. Residency and EMR experience are preferred, along with strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required.
• Pharmacist license required.
• Three years of related experience required.
• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and residency training preferred.
• Experience with drug utilization review and analysis preferred.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) desired.

Responsibilities

• Supervises personnel in a service area during a scheduled shift.
• Ensures all work assignments are completed by end of shift.
• Serves as primary preceptor for PGY1 residents, students, and interns.
• Coordinates review of policies and procedures related to pharmacy operations.
• Identifies need for and creates new policies and procedures.
• Initiates and facilitates drug use evaluations.
• Provides continuing education for hospital staff.
• Participates in reviews of therapeutic drug classes for formulary decisions.
• Presents evidence-based reviews for formulary additions.
• Demonstrates clinical leadership on hospital committees and external forums.
• Mentors pharmacy operational specialists and clinical pharmacists.
• Reports on drug usage changes based on literature and Tufts practices.
• Gathers and reports data for quality programs related to People, Clinical, Operations, Finance, Safety, and Research.
