Job summary

St. Luke’s University Health Network is seeking a dependable hospital cook to support daily meal preparation and service. The role requires preparing, serving and forecasting menu items per recipes and production methods, while maintaining quality and portion control.

The schedule calls for every other weekend and holiday, with strong emphasis on sanitation, teamwork and effective English communication in a fast-paced environment. Prior hospital or food service experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
• Previous cooking experience, preferably in a hospital or restaurant environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares all foods, ensuring they are ready for service as scheduled and in proper amounts.
• Ensures foods are served at proper temperatures and presented well.
• Follows recipes and production methods for correct portions and quality.
• Reviews menu items with staff to ensure content and service method.
• Alerts staff to menu changes in time for action.
• Prepares for service according to forecasts and directions, ensuring timely prep.
• Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of work area; assists with dish room duties.
