Job summary

Melrose/Wakefield Hospital is seeking a full-time maintenance technician for night shift (Tuesday–Saturday) to support Plant Operations. You will perform electrical, plumbing, carpentry and preventive maintenance across hospital facilities, repair equipment, and assist with snow removal and safety inspections.

Strong knowledge of blueprints, general trades, and safe tool handling preferred. This role offers competitive pay and benefits under Tufts Medicine. Location: Melrose, MA, 585 Lebanon St.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of building maintenance experience.
• Completion of vocational/trade program preferred.
• On-the-job training in building trades provided.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical repairs such as removal and replacement of switches, ballasts, motors, and controls.
• Perform plumbing tasks including drains, fixtures, and rodding.
• Perform minor carpentry such as doors, shelving, and locks.
• Repair plaster, brickwork or concrete as needed; weld as required.
• Provide service and preventive maintenance on hospital equipment and systems.
• Inspect and repair safety equipment and hospital systems; replace defective equipment.
• Clean workshop and equipment; handle hazardous materials safely and dispose of properly.
• Assist with snow removal and related tasks; help with project work in Plant operations.
